Coping and dealing with illness and the many forms of loss we encounter brings up many emotions and difficulties.Counselling provides an opportunity to speak in confidence with someone who is not directly involved yet understands the situation.
The Counselling Service is aware that there are many things we cannot change but sharing worries and fears can make patients and their loved ones feel less overwhelmed and less alone. Counselling provides much valued space and time for people to feel they can be themselves, share their feelings and help them to explore their own ways to cope with all they have to deal with.
The service works closely with the Hospice Bereavement Service and the Hospice Carers Support Service.
The Counselling Team is led by the Counselling Co-ordinator, Jen Watts, who is supported by a small team of qualified volunteer Counsellors.
If you would like to find out more about the Counselling Service, and the emotional support we can offer, Jen is available at Nottinghamshire Hospice every morning Monday to Friday and can be contacted on 0115 910 1008.
All calls are treated sensitively and in confidence.
Nottinghamshire Hospice also provide a Bereavement Support Service for patients and carers. For more information, please contact Janis Sim, our Bereavement Support Service Co-ordinator at the Hospice on 0115 910 1008.
