What do the Hospice at Home Nurses do?

‘The nurses will provide physical care, eg. personal hygiene, wound care and gastrostomy feeding, as well as psychological and spiritual support to enhance patient comfort.

Qualified Nurses will also undertake nursing procedures if requested to do so by the Doctor/District Nurse. Some Nurses have skills and training in Complementary Therapies.

The Nurses may also make drinks and a light meal for the patient if they are in attendance at mealtimes; however, they do not undertake domestic duties. The Nurses will stay in the house as long as they are booked by the District Nurse, Specialist Nurse or Community Matron.
