Andy Wallis raises £5,000 by running 5k a day for a WHOLE year!
When Andy Wallis announced “How about I raise £5,000 by running 5k a day for a WHOLE year?” we said “GREAT! When can you start?”
Andy started his challenge with his first 5k run on 27th January 2014, running from the hospice on Woodborough Road to the Cornerhouse in the centre of Nottingham. Despite rain, hail, snow, summer heat, shin splints and colds Andy kept at his goal and on Monday 26th January 2015 the staff and patients welcomed Andy back as his 365th run ended at the hospice, with a celebratory half marathon.
Nottinghamshire Hospice chief executive Rowena Naylor-Morrell said: “All the way through the year I have been overwhelmed by Andy’s commitment and understanding; he really embodies everything we are about at the hospice, we are very proud of him.”
We are extremely grateful to Andy, who is already a great supporter of Nottinghamshire Hospice, for taking on such a magnificent challenge. Congratulations Andy!
