Volunteer roles

Nottinghamshire Hospice has a wide variety of volunteering opportunities.

Volunteers currently support in the following areas:

Administration Volunteers: Administration volunteers provide much-appreciated administrative support in various departments. Volunteers also cover reception when needed.

Activities and Entertainment Volunteers: Volunteers provide activities and entertainment (e.g. music, arts & crafts, creative writing) on a one-off or regular basis.

Chaplaincy: We have a team of volunteer chaplains who provide pastoral support and look after the patients’ spiritual well-being.

Complementary Therapy: Volunteers provide patients with a variety of complementary therapies including Massage, Indian Head & Neck Massage, Relaxation, Acupressure, Reflexology and Aromatherapy.

Counselling: A team of qualified volunteers provides a counselling service under the supervision of our Counselling Service Coordinator.

Creative media support: Volunteers support us with graphic design, video making or anything to improve our communication streams.

Customer ServiceWe have specific volunteers who help in customer service at our shops, helping on the till and supporting customer needs as appropriate.

Day Therapy: Our Day Therapy volunteers assist the care staff, talking to patients, helping with activities and serving refreshments.

Digital Marketing: A team of volunteers support us with our website and social media accounts.

Drivers: Volunteers drive patients to and from the hospice.

Events: Volunteers provide invaluable support at our many and varied events. In the past, these have ranged from pamper days and boat trips to the recent Moonlight Walk.

Fundraising: Volunteers assist our creative fundraising team in raising much-needed funds to ensure we can continue to provide our services free of charge.

Gardener: Volunteers assist in the gardens at our hospice site, helping with pruning, planting and general grounds maintenance.

Handyman: We need volunteers to help with dirty jobs! Currently, this includes clearing out our cellar, which involves heavy lifting. If you feel you are up to the job and don’t mind spiders please contact us!

Online retail: Online sales volunteers help us to sell donated goods of a high quality on our newly established eBay account. This includes photographing, listing and packaging items.

Retail: We have shops across Nottinghamshire supported by volunteers. A full list of shops can be found here

Retail Visual MerchandisersVisual Merchandisers arrange displays and items in our shops to create a great impression to our customers.

Treasure HuntersVolunteers sort through our donated items and research the high quality goods which we can sell at a premium to raise funds for the hospice.

Warehouse: Volunteers sort donations for the shops, book in and dispatch goods, and take phone calls at our central warehouse.
