Light Up A Life
Light Up a Life – A special memory for everyone
Light up a Life is the time we come together each year to remember and celebrate our loved ones and the joy their lives have brought to us.
For every person, there may be a special memory we hold or a special reason why we want to remember them. Join us this year for Light up a Life and dedicate a light on our tree in their memory.
Dedicate a light and give the gift of care this Christmas
When you dedicate a light to your loved ones and make a donation to our hospice you enable us to be there for our patients and their families when they need us most.
All through the festive period our Hospice Night Support team will be on call ready to provide essential overnight care to people with life-limiting illnesses. Our team will ensure that poorly people can continue to be cared for in their own home, surrounded by those who are important to them and preventing a crisis admission to hospital at Christmas time.
The care and emotional support your donation will make possible, will give families across Nottinghamshire the greatest gift of all, time together at Christmas.
Last December, Alice Toseland, who had been given just weeks to live when she learnt her kidney cancer had spread, became very poorly and went into a hospital-based palliative care centre. She was determined to come home for Christmas, so the hospice stepped in to enable that to happen.
Alice was home with family throughout the Christmas period and died early in the new year.
Her daughter, Lynda said: “She insisted on coming home two days before Christmas, and the hospice helped us all through Christmas and new year. It was important that she was at home surrounded by family.
“The hospice staff were a constant help not only to my mum but also me, especially at times when I was there on my own at night. I cannot thank you and your team enough for your constant help with my mum especially towards the end.”
