Go Purple 2025: Colourful fundraising activities raise over £1500
Nottingham turned purple this July, taking part in our new and exciting fundraising campaign – Go Purple.

Supporters downloaded a free fundraising pack, full of top tips and resources to help them plan the perfect purple fundraising activity!
They could choose to:
- Wear it! Hold a purple dress down day at a workplace or school.
- Make it! Create something to sell or host a craft night.
- Think it! Use our free purple quiz to host a quiz night.
- Bake it! Host a bake sale or afternoon tea.
Our Community Fundraiser, Becky, said, “It has been great to see all the different, purple-themed ideas people have done to raise awareness of Nottinghamshire Hospice and funds for our care. Everyone has been so creative and we’re so thankful that they’ve embraced our new campaign which such enthusiasm!”
Here are the amazing, purple things people got up to last month to raise vital funds for our care!
At the Hospice
Our Income Generation team held their own ‘Bake It’ activity, where everyone made or bought their own sweet treats to share.
Wellbeing patients, volunteers, and staff were the first to try out our ‘Think it’ quiz. Well done to The Purple Pansies for being the top scorers!
Out in the community
Our community shops had a ‘Wear it!’ purple party themed window display competition, with Sherwood taking first place!
Nottingham Council House in Market Square lit up purple for a week, to show their support.
Caroline’s Move it or Lose it exercise classes, which take place all over Nottingham, raised an amazing £330 by turning purple to support our care! There were purple themed songs, purple exercise outfits, purple prizes and of course our purple sweepstake and quiz!
Caroline chose to support us because we cared for her mum. She said, “I will be forever grateful for the many happy times that my mum spent at the hospice on Wednesday afternoons, where she was able to take part in activities and have some lovely pampering sessions. The Hospice staff were a great source of comfort to myself and my sister after our mum passed too.”
Three Ponds Pub in Nuthall raised a fantastic £258, organising fun activities such as a bake sale, a quiz night and selling lucky dip party bags.
Support from local businesses
Baxter Freight went above and beyond for Go Purple, hosting a donation drive that collected 32 bags of pre-loved items for our Beeston and Sherwood shops. They also joined in the fun with a purple dress-down day and office bingo, raising an incredible £492 to support local hospice care.
ILUX put their sweet tooth to the test with a classic ‘Guess how many sweets are in the jar?’ challenge (all purple of course!) and raised a fantastic £125 along the way.
We took over Victoria Centre with a Go Purple colouring activity, giving us the chance to share more about the care we provide and the people we support with our local community.
Strike! We had an absolute blast at our Go Purple bowling tournament, hosted with the amazing team at Roxy Leisure. Huge thanks to PKF Smith Cooper and Agilitas for joining the fun, Catena for their generous donation, and to the brilliant local businesses who donated raffle prizes — including DropWorks, Depot Climbing, Lost City Adventure Golf, Pudding Pantry, Ruddy Fine Distillery, Token House, Dice Cup, and Bird & Blend. Together we bowled our way to an incredible £370 raised!
Maria, our Corporate Fundraiser, said, “It’s truly amazing to see so many local businesses getting involved in our Go Purple campaign. The creativity, fundraising, and enthusiasm shown not only raised vital funds but also helped spread awareness of the care and support Nottinghamshire Hospice provides right here in our community. We’re so grateful for their energy and passion in championing their local hospice.”
Our first ever Go Purple has raised a total of £1,575! That’s enough to give 21 families across Nottinghamshire five hours of respite relief, supporting them to rest and recover.
Thank you to everyone who helped make Go Purple a huge success!
