CompassionART Group

Free crafts, a cuppa and friendly company

Come along to CompassionART, our friendly weekly group where you can enjoy simple arts and crafts, meet new people and spend time doing something creative.

You don’t need to think of yourself as artistic or have any experience of arts and crafts. Activities are designed for all abilities and you can take part at your own pace – there’s no pressure to create anything perfect.

Everything is completely free, including the activities, materials and refreshments. There’s no need to book – just come along.

Everyone is welcome

If you’re aged 18 or over and live in Nottinghamshire, you’re welcome to join us.

You don’t need to have a diagnosis, be receiving Hospice care or have any previous connection with Nottinghamshire Hospice. You don’t need to be referred by a healthcare professional either.

You might just fancy trying something creative and meeting new people. You might be feeling lonely, living with a long-term illness, caring for someone, or have experienced grief.

Whatever brings you along, you’ll find a warm and welcoming space where you can enjoy good company and take part in as much or as little as you like.

What happens at CompassionART?

Each session includes relaxed, accessible arts and crafts activities, with plenty of time for a cuppa and conversation too.

Activities will vary and could include:
  • Painting and drawing using watercolours, pencils, and pastels to encourage creative expression and relaxation.
  • Mindful colouring with colouring books and patterned designs that can help reduce stress and promote calmness.
  • Seasonal crafts, such as making greeting cards, decorations, or small handmade gifts linked to the time of year.
  • Collage and memory boards, using images, colours, and textures to express feelings or create something meaningful.
  • Simple textile crafts, such as basic sewing, felt crafts, or decorating fabric items.
  • Clay or air-dry modelling, creating small decorative items or keepsakes.

A facilitator will be there to introduce the activity and help you get started, with friendly volunteers also on hand throughout the session.

There’s no expectation to talk about your personal circumstances or experiences. You can simply come along, enjoy being creative and spend time with other people.
