Light Up a Life Event 2026
Join us at our annual Light Up a Life event to remember and celebrate the lives of those who are no longer with us.
When: Monday 30th November
Arrival from 5pm
Lantern walk at 6.45pm
Where: Welbeck Hall, Welbeck Road, West Bridgford, NG2 7QW
Free parking available on-site
This year the event will be held at the beautiful Welbeck Hall where we will have readings, lantern lighting, light refreshments and music from the Liberty Singers Choir.
The evening is a chance for us all to join together in a moment of reflection and remembrance. Anyone who has lost someone is welcome.

Lantern memory walk
At this year’s event we will shine a light on the memory of our loved ones by lighting lanterns. Each memory lantern can be personalised and dedicated to someone special.
For those who wish to join us, we will then carry our lanterns on a short walk along the River Trent where your light will shine brightly alongside others in a beautiful display of love and remembrance.
The walk is 1 mile / 1.6 km long and is wheelchair accessible with no stairs. The terrain is flat for the majority of the route, with the exception of Wilford Suspension Bridge and a gradual incline up to Trent Bridge. We expect it to take approximately 40 minutes at a gentle pace and there are benches along the route if you do need a rest. You can see the full route here.

Jenny and David’s story
David has been supporting Light Up A Life for 11 years in memory of his wife, Jenny. He first heard about it while volunteering in one of our shops.
“I learnt quickly that there would be no getting over losing Jenny or the disbelief of her not being here. Jenny was a light in my life. Supporting Light Up A Life in her memory was making her alive again, bringing her into the light where she belongs, among the many others whose light still shines for them.
“Light Up A Life is a living memorial to a person you loved. Everyone at the Hospice does a wonderfui job, I will always be a supporter there’s no doubt about it. Jenny would do the same.”
Register for the Lantern Walk
We’d love for you to join our Lantern Walk at this year’s Light up a Life event. Everyone attending must register their place and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Your registration allows us to know how many attendees will be there on the night so we can prepare the most memorable experience for you.
